AUTUMN LAKE HEALTHCARE AT BERKELEY HEIGHTS IS GIVEN A 5 STAR RATING
BY THE CENTERS FOR MEDICARE AND MEDICAID SERVICES (CMS)
Autumn Lake Healthcare at Berkeley Heights, a skilled nursing facility located in Berkeley Heights, NJ, has earned an overall 5 Star Rating, in accordance with the standards set forth by the State of NJ and the U.S. Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
Several years ago, the CMS enhanced its Nursing Home Compare public reporting site to include a set of quality ratings for each nursing home that participates in Medicare or Medicaid. The ratings take the form of several “star” ratings for each nursing home, with 5 stars being the highest down to 1 star as the lowest. The primary goal of this rating system is to provide potential patients or residents and their families with an easy way to understand assessment of nursing home quality, making meaningful distinctions between high and low performing nursing homes. The rating system is based on facility performance for three basic types of performance measures:
1. Health Inspections – Measures based on outcomes from State health inspections
2. Staffing – Measures based on nursing home staffing levels
3. QM’s – Measures based on MDS quality measures (QM’s)
“The 5 star rating given to Autumn Lake Berkeley Heights by the CMS is a direct result of the dedication and commitment of the entire staff, management, and ownership to provide clinical excellence and responsiveness to the unique needs of every patient we care for”, said Ralph Portnoy, Director of Public Relations. “We are extremely proud of achieving the highest rating that can be given to a nursing home and further demonstrates our continuing goal of providing the highest quality care to our patients and residents”
